About Magnolia Trees – Species, Origin and Characteristics

Star Magnolia (Magnolia Stellata)
The star magnolia (Magnolia stellata) does have a couple of cultivars with pink blossoms. For example, there’s ‘Rosea’ or ‘Jane Platt,’ both of which have double, light pink flowers.
Sweetbay Magnolia (Magnolia Virginiana)
We only found one pink cultivar of the sweetbay magnolia, and it’s called ‘Pink Halo.’ It has pink buds that open to reveal white flowers with a pink flush.
Anise Magnolia (Magnolia Salicifolia)
The flowers of anise magnolias are generally white, but they do have a tinge of pink at the base. If you’re looking to add a subtle touch of pink, this species can be a good option.
Magnolia × loebneri
This is a hybrid of two magnolia species: Magnolia stellata and Magnolia kobus. It blooms in mid-spring with pink flowers that fade to white.
