Apricot flowers bloom on apricot trees, and this distinct tree species is closely related to plums and peaches. Sometimes, they are also called Japanese apricot, Japanese plum or Chinese plum flowers. Today, they are widely cultivated in gardens throughout East Asia.

The apricot tree is a small deciduous tree that grows to about 7 m in height. It has a rounded crown and spreading branches.
